ROAD TO RUNY – Hanco Germishuys
SPONSORED BY MAINFREIGHT — Rugby New York superstar Hanco Germishuys was born in South Africa but moved to Nebraska with his father in 2004. He began playing club rugby in the United States for West Omaha and was eventually selected to play for Nebraska All-Star Team. In High School, Germishuys was a four-time All-American and even traveled with his team to the USA Sevens Invitational.
Germishuys also served as captain for Team USA’s Youth Olympic squad in 7s and joined the Under-20s in XVs at the 2014 Junior World Rugby Trophy. In 2016, he came back as Captain of the USA Under-20s.
Later that year, Germishuys earned his first cap with the Men’s Eagles during their 2016 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) match against Brazil. He’s since won two ARC titles (2016, 2017) before finding his home with Rugby New York.
