Rugby New York (#3 in the East) takes on the New England Free Jacks (#1 in the East) in the Eastern Conference Final at Veterans Memorial Stadium this Sunday.
New York is coming off a road win against Rugby ATL in the Eastern Conference Eliminators. It was a win that gave New York their first-ever playoff victory, and they did so by defeating the team that knocked them out of last year’s playoffs. The 26-19 win makes it the second straight season that involves New York playing for a chance at the MLR Finals.
For New York to advance to their first MLR Finals, they must conquer an opponent they have become very familiar with, the New England Free Jacks. The two teams played each other three times during the regular season, with New England coming out on top, 2-1.
KEYS TO VICTORY:
PLAYER TO WATCH OUT FOR:
Dylan 'The Butcher' Fawsitt was MLR’s Player of the Week because of his dominant play. Fawsitt had one try, 78 meters run, 10 tackles and 14 ruck arrivals in the win against Rugby ATL. “The Butcher” has been on the team since its 2018 inception, and he will look for another game-changing performance to lead New York one step closer to the championship.
