Rugby New York Host the Toronto Arrows in 2023 Home Debut.
The Ironworkers break ground at their new home in Memorial Stadium against the Toronto Arrows this Sunday at 3pm.
The new stadium in Mount Vernon finished its years-long renovation in September 2022. This will be the first-ever professional rugby game hosted on the grounds.
WHAT TO KNOW
In every regular season meeting between New York and Toronto dating back to 2019, the record is 6-6 against each other. Every season, except for the shortened 2020 season, saw the teams split the two games.
The two teams enter the match coming off a loss to open the season last week. The Ironworkers lost their opener against the Seattle Seawolves last week, and the Arrows dropped their first match to Rugby Atlanta. In the standings, the Arrows are one point above the Ironworkers for only losing by seven points.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Ed Fidow (right) will look to continue his try-scoring magic. The reigning league-leader in tries picked up where he left off scoring the Ironworkers’ lone try last week. His performance led to a nod on MLR’s First-XV Players for Week 1.
