Rugby New York is pleased to announce the details of the 2022 Spring Season for its Academy program, revamped as the New York Foundry.
“Mindful of our blue-collar identity and how ironworkers have changed the New York skyline, we decided on the Foundry as our identity, as it is where the iron is made, where the next generation of New York players will be identified and developed,” said Steve Lewis of Rugby New York.
Former USA captain and New York player Mike Petri will be the Head Coach and will be assisted by Craigg Wilson of Yale and another former Eagle & New York player, Luke Hume. Tobe Erike will be responsible for Strength & Conditioning.
An 8 match season is anticipated with curtain-raiser fixtures against fellow MLR teams and others, providing an opportunity for players aged 18-23 to develop and showcase their talents, whether they are the top young local club players or collegiate players returning to the Tri-State area. Individual and unit skills sessions will also be offered to Foundry members throughout the spring, summer, and fall”
